    Molasses Cookies

    molasses cookies

This past week, we decided to bail out of an East coast surf contest that Sawyer was supposed to compete in to just stay home and get some house projects crossed off our list.  Sawyer wasn't too bummed because there actually ended up being a little surf on our coast so he did get a chance to play in the waves.  I wasn't bummed either because I was able to stay home and decorate our house for the holidays and bake cookies.

I can't quite remember when these molasses cookies showed up in my newsfeed...but at some point I saw the post from Bakerella and knew I had some baking to do.

I have been addicted to the molasses cookies sold at my neighborhood Amish market but I am the only one in the family that likes them.  I buy them and I eat them all.  Not only do I not want to eat them all, I am tired of spending all that money for cookies that I know I could bake myself.  Luckily, this recipe came into my life.  I baked up a big batch with intentions of taking some to my friend but my family actually likes this recipe so they were gone before I could stash some away (sorry Trudy!).

These cookies say, Merry Christmas with their perfect mix of spice and sugar and great texture.  I guess I'll need to bake them again and really get some off to my friends.
