I didn't want to get up this morning. At all. We had music practice at 9:00 and I woke up at 8:20--dragging myself across the house to get the kids up. Luckily our practice is in our backyard and the teacher is so kind that we were able to make it there on time. I can't say it was pretty though. I don't think anyone brushed their teeth before we ran out of the house.
Nova played really well today for the tiny amount that she practiced. I was proud of her. I was also proud of her for getting her BACK TUCK today. She had it a year or so ago but then watched a couple of girls suffer some pretty bad injuries while doing them and it may have caused a bit of a mental block. Today, she went for it and did it. Not only did she do it, she did it well. Very proud mom! I'm actually really impressed with Nova today. She is such a hard worker and her school really dumps a lot on them, plus she is working so hard with gymnastics and CrossFit and always mostly has a positive outlook. I don't know how she does it and I sure hope we aren't pushing her too hard.
We didn't do much today besides checking out a new donut shop downtown (Shipley Do-Nuts). The donuts were good, interestingly decorated and the decor of the place was really cool. We sat outside by the defunct train tracks and enjoyed our sugar bombs. We will definitely go back but we need some time to detox before we do.
While Nova was at practice, Sawyer and I laid around the house. Aaron was working. When we picked Nova up from practice, we came back home and laid around the house some more. I cleaned a little bit and organized some of my photography props but really we just were lazy. Sawyer and I walked around the block while Nova stayed back to do homework.
Tonight, I am sitting up with Nova while she tries to finish up ALL the homework she missed during our trip last week. Sawyer is in his room, doing pull-ups and watching videos. Aaron is on his way home from fishing. The thunderstorm is getting closer and it is almost time for bed.
It has been a good day--quiet but a much needed quiet day! And, if Nova finishes her work tonight, tomorrow, we shop!
