I made cinnamon muffins for breakfast while the kids slept. When they finally woke up, we started the morning with an egg hunt that the kids reluctantly participated in. They were excited to get their Easter baskets and happy to eat chocolate but getting them to hunt for eggs was a chore. I told them that one egg had $50 in it and then they really started to get into it. After our egg hunt, we walked/skateboarded to the church next door to watch the helicopter egg drop. We didn't really want to participate but just wanted to see what it looks like for a helicopter to drop a bunch of eggs. Unfortunately, the egg drop was scheduled for after the church service and none of us wanted to, or were dressed to stay for Easter service. We walked back home and discussed the stories of Jesus and Easter, as best as I could remember them.
In the afternoon, we went to Mary's house (which is beautiful by the way!). It was so nice to be at the pool with Mary and her family. It was my first swim (in a pool) of the summer and I loved it. I also love how sweet her daughter Lily is. She is such a cuddly girl and loves to gives hugs. My kids had a great time, playing with Liam and just playing together. It made me so happy to see them laughing and playing together like that. It went on for hours and I loved it.
We made it home by 5:30 and I was able to make dinner (lamb chops, scalloped potatoes and asparagus) pretty quickly. We even ate before it was dark outside. Sawyer commented, "It feels good to eat dinner when it is still light outside."
After homework and cleaning up, I was in bed early, finishing up Season 5 of Girls.
A good day with my kids, a good day.
