After our late night last night, we were all happy to sleep in. Aaron and I slept until 10 am which is unheard of and Nova slept until 3:00 pm. That girl can sleep! Since it was a quiet day, Aaron and I spent some time working on the business. We planned the next yoga teacher training, started to set up a new program, and talked about staffing issues for summer. Then we started to get frustrated. I really feel that we have a window of about two hours that we can work on business stuff before we start to get frustrated with each other. I think both of us need to be aware of our own self care needs and really pay attention to triggers and such. It is kind of counter productive to end each business meeting grumpy. I have wanted to look into how other couples run businesses together because it is not easy. It is hard to separate home life, parenting life and business life and still have time to develop and nurture our relationship. Going out for a beer and talking about the business is a business meeting, not a date. But, when we love running the business and working on it, it is hard to not talk about it. Something to work on, I suppose.
By this point, it was about 5 pm and we hadn't left the house, people were getting grumpy and we needed fresh air. I had this great idea of loading Aloha into the car for a quick walk at the Celery Fields. She has been sick/injured for two years now and her longest walk has been about ¼ mile. Lately, though, she has been feeling better and I thought she would love the park. The only issue is getting a 125 pound dog into and out of the car. Luckily, Aaron was able to figure it out and we were on our way. She couldn't handle much of a walk but the she was happy to just lay and play in the grass while the kids and I ran up and down one of the only hills in Sarasota.
We stopped in at Detweilers on the way back for a few things and then headed home to make chili and rice for dinner.
Unfortunately, my great idea wasn't so great---Aloha had over exerted herself and was whimpering and whining all night. We did some research, gave her an extra dose of her medication and she seemed to be fine.
Neither Sawyer or I were feeling very well so it was early to bed for us while Nova worked on homework.
