This morning was spent working on SNAK (our family VLOG), working on The Surfers Kitchen, and trying to get stuff done for our actual, money making business. I love our business but I really love working on the creative stuff too and wish I had more time to do that.
Around noon, the kids and I started to get antsy and ready to leave the house. We decided to go pick up Marlin and Luna and head to Myakka State Park with one dog (Sushi!) and a camera.
We didn't have time for much of a walk (my step counter on my phone says we only walked 3,767 steps but it must have been at least a mile or more. Luna and Sushi ran ahead of everyone stopping to check out cool new sticks or bushes every now and then. Sawyer, Marlin and Nova were much more excited about the portrait mode on my iphone and the possibilities for a photo shoot in the forest. See photos below.
We had lunch/dinner at S'macks and then took Luna home while Marlin got sized for his tuxedo for prom.
We all crashed in various places around Tiff/Grandma's house---Nova in the grass outside, Sawyer stretched out on the couch with Sushi by his side, Luna with her iPad and me, in the corner chair. For some reason, we were all so wiped out.
Just looking at the photo of Sushi makes me realize how old she is getting. We got her from a rescue about six years ago and she was a puppy so she still should have lots of life ahead of her. Her name was Sawyer at the rescue and we just didn't feel we could leave her there. She was so cute. She is our best behaved dog but gets a little weird with people and in places she isn't familiar with. She had a really hard time hanging out at the restaurant with us because she just isn't an easy going dog. She is scared and worried all the time. She wouldn't drink the water the S'macks staff brought out and wouldn't touch the french fries we tried to hand feed her. At my mom's house, it took her a very long time to just relax and be.
