Today was a work day for me but a day off for the kids and Aaron. Teacher work-day happened to align with high winds so paddling was out of the question. I was grumpy today, most likely due to it being Monday, but I was also irritated with the kids for being bored. We are always on the go and when they have moments of spare time at home, they are really at a loss. Especially if I take away TV time or put limits on the phone. Luckily, Aaron got everyone out of the house (grocery shopping) so I could focus and get my work done.
This afternoon, there was surf so Aaron and Sawyer headed off to the beach while I did the gymnastics drop off, Cross-Fit, Target run on my own. Normally Sawyer would be with me and I missed him at CrossFit for sure. It was probably better that he wasn't there as I almost threw up after the WOD. It was tough and I was really trying. I would have been embarrassed for him to see me in such bad shape.whole 30
I have been doing the Whole 30 now for 10 days and I am not sure if I am noticing any differences. I feel like my push-ups are getting easier but that is likely because I am stronger, not lighter. I feel like food is a bit less exciting to me and need to figure a way to change that. For breakfast, I had half a sweet potato with some ground sausage at 11:00 and then realized right before CrossFit that I hadn't eaten anything else. Not enough food to push me through a work-out. Tomorrow, I will pack a better lunch and have a better dinner since we have groceries! Cooking and eating is just a bit more of a challenge with all of these restrictions.
After Cross-Fit, I went to Target to pick up a few things and ran into my sister and little Luna. I haven't really lived near family in a very long time so it was weird (in a good way) to have a random encounter at Target. It actually threw me off a bit (like, for a millisecond) thinking, "That person looks familiar...Oh, yeah, it's my sister." It was a nice surprise to see them (especially Luna) when it wasn't expected.
On a side note: the sunset was amazing tonight and I wasn't able to get a good photo of it. It was a giant red ball in the sky--so huge, so bright. I was driving so I was looking at everyone else, hoping that they saw it too. But, most of them were on their phones and didn't get a chance to appreciate it. It was beautiful and the picture below does not do it justice. At.All. It reminded me that I need to stay present and look for beauty everyday--things like the sunset are mesmerizing and I need to remember that.
I picked Nova up from practice and then headed home. Aaron had made poke and I was so excited to eat!
Goodnight!
