This morning was not one for balance. I was grumpy, the kids were grumpy, and Aaron was grumpy. It was just an early morning, after a sort of late night and they wanted to sleep in and I wished so badly they could. Instead, on their day off from school, they had to go to work with Aaron. I went to my office.
On my way to the office, I stopped at Starbucks and ordered more than I normally do. When I got to the window, the barista let me know that the person in front of me had paid for my whole order. What a nice surprise! I paid for the person behind me (which was a lot less) and then when I got to the toll booth decided to leave a few extra dollars for the next few people to go through. I had never done anything like that and it was pretty fun.
I left work a couple of hours early (because I had worked more during the week) and headed to the tunnels to pick up the kids. They went to work with Aaron and paddled with him during the first paddle and then sat in the van and argued with each other while he went out on the second paddle. The plan was to pick up the kids with Aaron at the tunnels and go to CrossFit. But, they were tired and the CrossFit workout was all running. None of us were in the mood for that. Instead we went to Whole Foods and picked up dinner, including fancy beer and a sandwich for Aaron (unfortunately, he was in a horrible mood when he finally got home and didn't enjoy it). We came home, ate our dinner and then walked to Sarah's to feed Chewy. I love being in her house. It is always so clean, calm and peaceful. I need to figure out how to get that at my house. Three dogs might be part of the problem.
Speaking of making the house a more peaceful place, the house-cleaners came today and I am so happy. I don't know exactly how they do it but they get the house so clean and the floors looking amazing. They move furniture around and clean behind places that I never touch. I know it is a superfluous expense but it is one I really need right now.
To end the evening, Sawyer and I watched another episode of "Thirteen Reasons Why"; Nova laid in her room and watched Brateley's for hours, and Aaron sat alone in the living room doing his own thing. His moods have gotten to be too much for me lately and I have learned to just stay out of his way. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
