I racked my brain all day today trying to come up with an April Fools joke for the kids. I am just not that creative and couldn't think of anything. We had our regular rushed Saturday going from piano/guitar to gymnastics practice and then to the Waterman training class. It wasn't all running around though--I managed to get my car washed, my hair blown out (again! I need to learn how to do this.), a paddle with Janice and then met Mary at the beach for sunset.
Janice and I met to paddle while the kids were at Waterman training with Aaron. She has been healing from a broken femur and this was her first time out on the water in over ten months. I was happy to join her for a nice relaxing paddle and great conversation. I love her insight and her attitude. I was definitely meant to know her. We tried to find a manatee that we had heard was out there---but never did see it. The kids did though and they came back so excited about it. The manatee had come up to the board and put it's flippers on the board for attention. They loved it!
After our paddle, we went over to the beach to watch the sunset. There were waves and though the kids didn't have their surfboards, they body surfed until they were pooped. Mary and her kids met us there and we had such a nice time. We played tag on the beach and dug in the sand. Her kids are super cuddly and I got such nice hugs from the little one. It really made my day.
I had hoped Aaron would have been able to meet us but he was stuck at the tunnels until after dark. It has been busy lately and I am happy about that. I just wish we had more time together as a family. I do have to keep it in perspective though--we were together last night and the kids just finished paddling with him for over an hour. All of that is good.
The sunset was beautiful, the kids had a blast and I was with a good friend and her fun kids. Another beautiful day in Southwest Florida.
