What a whirlwind of a day!
The day kicked off with piano and guitar lessons. I dropped the kids off and ran to Target to get MORE MEDICINE to finally beat this infection. I returned to hear Sawyer playing "The Rose" from Beauty and the Beast--it sounds so great. I missed all of Nova's guitar lesson but am anxious to hear her new song.
We went home and Marlin and Luna were waiting for us. I, along with Marlin, am hanging out with Luna today while Tiffany is at work and Joao takes a much needed rest day. I warned Tiffany that most of the day I would be running around, as is my normal Saturday but she assured me Luna would be up for the tasks.
Our first errand was to drop off Nova and get the car washed. Luna had never been to a car wash before so it was fun to see it through her three year old eyes. She kept talking about Calliou (a TV character) going to to the car wash and was excited. She started to get nervous about it as we were going into the car wash and I hadn't even thought about the fact that it might have been scary for her. She sat in my lap and did fine through the whole thing. She talked about it all day.
After, we ran home and grabbed Sawyer and Marlin for a bit of playground fun before dropping of Marlin at ballet. Then, we picked up Nova and watched a bit of the end of her practice. We turned right around and picked up Marlin and decided to have a picnic in the park. We grabbed Chipotle and headed downtown to the Circus Park. It was such a pretty day. Not too hot, not too cool--just perfect and everyone was outside. We sat in the grass for a bit, eating and playing and then headed to the playground.
I realized that I had been to the playground more in the past day than I had in years. When the kids were young, we were at the playgrounds all the time. But as they have gotten older and their interests change, we stopped going. I guess that is just how it is. If you don't have kids or have older kids, you just might not ever think about going to playgrounds or parks. Luckily, in Sarasota it seems the people in charge of playgrounds and parks, keep thinking about them and are very creative. The Circus Park playground and the surrounding Payne Park are just great. The skatepark, the rolling hills, the jogging track--all of it safe and clean and right downtown. We loved it.
After a long evening at the park, we headed to Trader Joes for ice cream and then I dropped off Marlin and Luna at home. We stayed for a bit and chatted with Joao and Tiffany and then went home. I am pretty sure I put about 200 miles on my car today---just staying in town and running errands.
I am so excited to sleep tonight. I am feeling a bit better and think I may even get to sleep through the night.
