I was really feeling sick this morning and had been up all night coughing. I didn't want to go to the office but I also didn't want to miss my meeting with my boss. We needed to talk about "things".
I was nervous all morning about the meeting because I knew that one of the things we needed to discuss, was my apparent dropping the ball on a recent project. I felt that I was doing things according to plan, but my boss, unfortunately, had a different view. It caused all sorts of drama, hurt feelings, and unease but once we talked about it, in person, face to face things were better. Isn't that always the way? I realized after chatting with him that we are all working as hard as we can on our issues. He is likely trying to figure out how to be our new boss just as we are getting used to him and the way he operates. It will take some time but I am glad he is so open and easy to talk to.
I finished up at the office quite late but was able to chat with my friend Linda to pass the time. She is always so positive and makes our office so much better just by her presence.
Aaron took Sawyer surfing so they weren't home when I got home. Nova was--she was hard at work on her homework and invited me into her room to take a short nap while she did her work. I am so proud of how hard she is working. Her school is tough and she is excelling. She remembers everything and can speak with such conviction on her subjects. Greek gods? She knows them all. She can pinpoint every planet in the night sky. She sounds so cute when she speaks French.
After my short nap, we headed to Target for pencils, medicine for me (I need something), and a few snacks. $80 later we left the store and headed home to make burritos for dinner.
Sawyer came home from surfing in such a good mood. He had a great time and was carving the wave and staying ahead of the white water the whole time. It was fun to see him so refreshed and exhilarated. As soon as the water warms up, I am going to be out there too.
Tiffany, Joao, Luna and Marlin came over and it was more show tunes (sung as loud as humanly possible), lots of dance moves, and cute little Luna.
Luna: Dad, Get me more cookies.
Joao: What?
Luna, getting progressively more irritated and loud,: Dad, get me more cookies.
Joao: What? (hoping to hear the word please)
Luna, still louder: GET ME MORE COOKIES!
Joao: WHAT?
Luna, now in Portuguese because she assumed Joao does not understand her English words: Pegue mais cookies.
Ha Ha! It was so cute. I was trying to laugh but this weird cough/medicine was making me sound like I was barking, which was causing me to laugh even harder.
Family is fun. Toddlers are funner.
