I was so excited to have the day off today! My plan was to sleep in, go to my therapist appointment and then take the kids to do something fun, most likely a visit to Siesta Key Beach.
At the last minute, my sister asked me to watch Luna for her while she taught yoga. Of course! I love any chance to hang out with that little girl. She came over around 8:15 am and we read books, drew pictures, made breakfast and then woke up the kids by jumping on their beds. Nova wasn't very happy about that. Luna was a HUGE help to Sawyer by helping him clean his room. It was really fun to see how patient and kind he was with his little cousin. When I needed to take a shower, Nova made a bed for Luna in her room, closed the door and put on Calliou for her. My kids are such good helpers and growing up so well.
I had a noon appointment with my therapist lady and decided I would just take the kids with me to wait in the lobby. We needed to be out of the house because the housecleaners (YAY!) were coming today. After my appointment, (we talked about getting the kids to help more and making sure Aaron is more definitive in his speech and actions), we started to head toward Siesta Key. I had heard the Naked Cowboy was there and thought it would be fun to get his picture. I didn't know anything about him except that he is a New York City icon and I love NYC! Spring break traffic changed my mind and we decided to just head over to Lido Beach for lunch and then maybe some beach time. We wanted to have time to get to the bank, beach, and CrossFit after lunch so we couldn't deal with Siesta Key bridge traffic.
We had lunch at Shore in St Armands Circle, which was good but not amazing. I really have not found an amazing lunch place here. In Hawaii, I can think of many.
As we were leaving Shore and headed to Ben and Jerry's for a scoop of ice cream, guess who came strolling toward us? THE NAKED COWBOY! He was a bit of a weirdo but took some photos with us, handed us some autographs, and went on his way. It was funny and totally unexpected. We grabbed some ice cream and a milk shake for Aaron, and delivered it to him at the tunnels.
We didn't have time to get to the bank (or the beach), which made Sawyer grumpy, but his grumpiness faded a bit by the end of CrossFit. I need to remember that--he functions better emotionally when he works out. I suppose we all do. We both did the 17.4 CrossFit Open workout. Sawyer did great! I couldn't even get through the rowing portion but he made it all the way to the end.
Aaron decided to fish tonight so the kids and I went to Chipotle after picking up Nova from practice. We really have to stop eating out so much. It is getting kind of ridiculous. I may try one of those meal services just because I don't have time to meal plan, shop and cook. I have time to cook but without the planning and the shopping, it just doesn't happen.
